Connecting Local Businesses to Renewable Energy Zone Opportunities
Regional businesses across NSW can now access a single website to help them win work, grow their business and create local jobs in the renewable energy sector.
A dedicated Renewable Energy Zones topics page has been launched on the Gateway by Industry Capability Network platform, providing a centralised hub where buyers and suppliers can connect.
EnergyCo has partnered with the Industry Capability Network, in collaboration with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and Investment NSW, to provide local suppliers with tailored resources, insights and networks that help build capability and boost competitiveness.
The ICN Gateway is a free online platform where businesses can register, showcase their capabilities, and connect with projects across the clean energy transition and broader infrastructure pipeline. A dedicated Renewable Energy Zones page has been launched on the platform, providing a central hub for buyers and suppliers to connect.
As part of this partnership, nearly 500 supplier profiles have been updated to give them greater visibility in searches through the topic page, allowing them better chances at work opportunities in the renewable energy zones.
This tailored space makes it easier for local businesses to find and engage with opportunities in renewable energy zones, supporting local jobs, strengthening supply chains and boosting regional participation in NSW’s renewable energy future.
By simplifying access to work packages and improving connection pathways between local suppliers and key contractors, this initiative aims to deliver lasting economic benefits to communities across NSW.
To help connect with a broader audience, businesses can look for opportunities and register on the digital platform.

“The Renewable Energy Zones topics page makes opportunities more visible and transparent. It’s designed to support local jobs, regional supply chains and stronger outcomes for communities across NSW.
“From small businesses in Dubbo to contractors in the South West region, this initiative gives regional businesses the tools and confidence to thrive in the growing energy landscape.”
Quote attributable to DPIRD Executive Director Regional Economic Development Ian Smith:
“It is great to be working with EnergyCo and ICN to support and make it easier for regional businesses to find work, increase their capability and contribute to NSW’s clean energy future
“The Business Infrastructure Briefing Series connects local suppliers with REZ opportunities, helping increase local content and strengthen regional supply chains. The ICN Gateway further cements our commitment to regional NSWs growth.”
Quote attributable to Industry Capability Network Executive Director Ian Hudson:
“REZ project developers and their entire supply chain now have two ways to find relevant local suppliers of goods and services. They can have a full Gateway project page for the complete project or do quick one-off searches from the topic page to find local businesses.
“Businesses within the REZs who want to supply into the many REZ projects should make sure they have an up-to-date capability profile on Gateway by ICN. Not only will they then be found when a search is conducted, but they will also be able to submit an EOI for work packages of interest within a REZ project.”
Quote attributable to local business owner Stripes Industrial Supplies Mudgee, Danielle Lambert:
“Stripes Industrial Supplies has had a profile on Gateway by ICN for four years. When we heard about the REZ, we updated our profile. Now we have won a substantial contract to provide PPE which we otherwise wouldn’t have known about.”
