Social Impact Management Plan released for Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone
EnergyCo has published a comprehensive Social Impact Management Plan (SIM Plan) for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission project — a key infrastructure initiative supporting energy reliability for NSW.
The SIM Plan outlines how social impacts will be identified, managed and minimised throughout the construction phase of the transmission project.
Developed in consultation with local communities, councils, Traditional Owners, government agencies and other key stakeholders, the plan also identifies ways to enhance benefits.
Key plan features include:
A community engagement framework: Ongoing dialogue with affected communities and stakeholders.
Landholder support measures: Tailored assistance and clear communication for landowners along the transmission corridor.
Cultural heritage protection: Commitments to working with Traditional Owners to preserve and respect cultural sites.
Local economic participation: Initiatives to maximise local employment, training, and procurement opportunities.
Monitoring and evaluation: Transparent reporting and adaptive management to respond to emerging issues.
See the full SIM Plan, and a summary version, on the project website.
