About the program

EnergyCo and the NSW Department of Education, in partnership with VERTO and SKIVL, are offering training programs for those aspiring to enter the construction and renewable energy sectors.

This two-week course, running in Mudgee and Dunedoo in May, offers hands-on training directly relevant to construction and renewable energy jobs in the region.  

Previous participants have already moved into roles in traffic control, civil construction and labouring, with many gaining confidence, experience and local employment.  

You’ll also get the chance to meet local employers working on renewable energy and civil projects across the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).

  • RIIWHS302E: Implement traffic management plans
  • RIIEHS303 Position, set up and program portable traffic control devices
  • RIIMP0337E: Conduct articulated haul truck operations
  • RIIMPO337E: Conduct articulated haul truck operations
  • RIISAM204E: Operate small plant and equipment

This nationally accredited training also includes a 2-day Work Preparation Skills workshop covering resume writing, cover letter development and interview skills. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided for all participants and travel assistance will be provided for eligible participants.

Program information and dates

Eligibility Criteria:

To apply, you must be:  

  • aged 18+
  • living in the Central West Orana REZ
  • not currently enrolled in school, TAFE or university
  • interested in exploring the construction or renewable energy careers.
  • Attend an information session covering program details, eligibility and other key details

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, women, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must have full working rights in Australia
  • Must provide 100 points of ID
  • Must undertake a pre-employment medical screening 

Mudgee program:

  • Dates: Monday 4 May – Wednesday, 27 May 2026
  • Location: Club Mudgee, 99 Mortimer St, Mudgee
  • Registrations close: Friday, 13 March 2026

Dunedoo program:

  • Dates: Monday 18 May – Wednesday, 3 June 2026
  • Location: Dunedoo Bowls Club, 39 Cobborah Road, Dunedoo
  • Registrations close: Friday, 27 March 2026
