New directories to make it easier for local businesses to find work on renewable energy projects
New renewable energy sector directories are opening the door for NSW businesses to participate in the State’s growing clean energy pipeline.
Developed by EnergyCo in partnership with the Industry Capability Network (ICN), the directories make it easier to identify and engage local suppliers across renewable generation and storage projects.
The first in the series are the Power Transmission Directory and the Renewables Directory (Solar, Wind, BESS, Hydro and Emerging Technologies). Together, they map Australian companies involved in the supply, manufacture and servicing of key components and services across renewable generation and storage technologies.
Their primary purpose is to provide project proponents and businesses with a structured and consistent view of local capability, supporting informed procurement and engagement across the renewable energy supply chain.
The directories include information on equipment manufacturers and suppliers, as well as service providers involved in installation, testing, commissioning and ongoing maintenance. By consolidating this information in a single, accessible format, the directories aim to improve visibility of Australian capability and assist proponents in identifying suitable local suppliers at different stages of project development.
With a growing pipeline of renewable energy projects across NSW, strengthening local supply chains has never been more important. As demand for skilled suppliers and specialised services increases, these opportunities are also helping create long term jobs and economic benefits for regional communities.

An additional two directories will be released later this year. If your business is interested in getting involved in our next directory, submit your details via https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CEiCEnergyCo
Quote attributable to EnergyCo Director Community Benefits & Outcomes Yvette Lloyd:
“This project aims to help understand capability across the renewable energy sectors in NSW. The directories act as a resource for the renewable energy sector, helping industry stakeholders and businesses easily connect with relevant suppliers.
“Connecting local businesses with renewable energy projects isn’t just about supply chains — it’s about building stronger communities. We’re excited to see how local suppliers step up and help power the State’s transition to renewable energy.”
Quote attributable to Industry Capability Network Executive Director Ian Hudson:
"These supplier directories are being carefully prepared by ICN as a tool for companies working in clean energy projects to readily identify local suppliers. If we can make it easy to find local suppliers, the local community will benefit from more local jobs and prosperity.
“It just makes good economic and environmental sense to use local businesses. ICN has always been committed to the cause. Now, through the directories, it is easy for buyers within the supply chain, who need the many goods and services needed for a clean energy project, to find local suppliers."
Background:
EnergyCo has partnered with the Industry Capability Network to provide local suppliers with tailored resources, insights and networks that help build capability and boost competitiveness.
The ICN Gateway is a free online platform where businesses can register, showcase their capabilities, and connect with projects across the clean energy transition and broader infrastructure pipeline. A dedicated Renewable Energy Zones page has been launched on the platform, providing a central hub for buyers and suppliers to connect and can be accessed by: https://gateway.icn.org.au/energynsw
