Central West Orana REZ Media release Community benefits

A new wheelchair-accessible toilet and shower block at the Binnaway Showground is now open thanks to a NSW Government renewable energy grant.

The EnergyCo funding will help ensure the Binnaway Show and other events are accessible to everyone in the community, as well as increasing event capacity and reducing costs for the Show.

The $378,798 grant for a new amenities block comprising 9 toilets and five showers - with one wheelchair accessible toilet and one accessible shower -was provided through the Community and Employment Benefit Program.

Last year, another grant of $20,000 provided through the program supported activities at the 2025 Binnaway Show, including an arts show evening, teaching young locals how to judge livestock and free rides for children.

Both grants were provided as part of the NSW Government’s initial $128 million investment in the program to deliver lasting benefits for residents of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).

Over $66 million in grants has already been awarded through the program to develop 62 different projects, providing much needed upgrades to local infrastructure such as schools, childcare centres, sporting fields and community halls.

More funding will be made available to communities over the next three decades, generated from fees paid by projects with an access right to connect to the REZ network infrastructure.

The 2026 Binnaway Show is on Saturday 28 February 2026 and will include a cow and horse competition, bike stunt show, yard dog trials and duck races. The official opening of the new amenities block is scheduled for 12pm.
